07 September 2025

As the end of 2025 is approaching, its time to start planning your dream holiday for 2026.
Whether it’s relaxing on a beach, exploring a new city, or taking the family on an adventure, planning ahead can make your dream trip more affordable and stress-free.
Our latest member survey reveals 16% of Harp and Crown CU members who took out a loan cited “HOLIDAY” as the reason.
What are the most popular destinations for 2026?
Travel experts predict the following will be among the most sought-after destinations next year:
-
Spain
-
Iceland and The Nordics
-
Italy and Greece
-
USA and Canada
-
Caribbean and Bahamas
-
South Africa
-
New Zealand
What costs should you expect?
Of course, costs vary depending on where you go, but here are some average price ranges you can expect to help you plan ahead:
-
Weekend city break (2–3 nights in Europe): from £300–£600 per person (flights + hotel + meals).
-
One-week holiday (Mediterranean or USA city break): typically £900–£1,500 per person, including flights, accommodation, and some activities.
-
Two-week getaway (long-haul destinations like the Caribbean, South Africa, or New Zealand): around £2,000–£3,500+ per person, depending on flight class, hotel choice, and excursions.
Why plan ahead?
Holiday and flight prices are expected to keep rising in 2026. On top of that, Air Passenger Duty (APD) – a tax on flights that is usually passed on to passengers – will increase in 2026/27:
-
Short-haul flights: +£2 (currently £13)
-
Long-haul flights: +£12 (currently £94, rising to £106 in 2026)
-
Premium economy, business and first class: even higher increases.
Booking and budgeting early means you can secure better deals and spread the cost.
