Getting engaged at Christmas

Around the world the most popular month for getting engaged is December! In the UK 18% of engagements take place during this month.

According to a study by an event planning company Chillisauce 43% of couples in the UK get engaged over Christmas.  The most popular day chosen by 31% of respondents being Christmas Eve!

Average cost of an engagement

• In the UK the cost of an engagement ring is between £1,865 and £2,100.

• The cost for a photographer per hour is £125.

• The cost for an engagement party is £1,520 for 50 guests.

Average cost of a wedding

The average cost of a wedding in the UK in 2023 was £19,184. Which is up by 7.5% or £1,384 from the average cost in 2022!

66% of couples said they received money from family or friends towards the cost of their wedding. 

Average cost of a honeymoon

The average amount spent on a honeymoon by couples in the UK was £4,200.

This would mean including the ring, engagement, wedding and honeymoon it could all cost around £27,000 to get married!

Organising a wedding is costly BUT so is ATTENDING a wedding!

Metro.co.uk confirmed the average cost to ATTEND a wedding is now almost £1000!
