Are you number confident?

15 May 2024

numeracy day 2024

If not don’t worry...it's National Numeracy Day on Wednesday 15th May and we are here to give you some pointers!

What is National Numeracy Day?

It is a day that aims to highlight the importance of numbers and numeracy in our everyday lives. People are encouraged to build on their mathematical skills and increase their confidence in numbers.

Where do we use numbers in our daily lives?

Recognising where we use numbers in our lives is a brilliant way to celebrate. The most obvious way in which we all use numbers is MONEY. Whether you are food shopping, planning a holiday or want to buy a house, money plays a big part.

Importance of good numeracy

Numeracy is an important skill in which everyone needs a good basic understanding to get by in life. Poor numeracy skills can contribute to poor money management and debt.

Ways to improve numeracy skills

Whether you are in school, at work, with family or just by yourself there are a few things you can do to participate in National Numeracy Day.

Try learning something new with numbers that can help you in your everyday life! For example, why not learn how to properly budget or just simply take a course to learn some new math skills.

Or focus on using numbers for a day. There are many math games you can download or number puzzles to do with the family.
