Food prices at an all time high

Inflation is still in double figures in the UK (10.1% in March) and the cost of living crisis continues.
We were shocked to discover a cucumber for sale in a local supermarket this week priced at £1.89!
According to the Office for National Statistics, in March 2022 (only just over a year ago) the average cost of a cucumber was 54p!
Perhaps by way of explanation, Euronews.com states: “the soaring cost of energy” has prevented business growers from using heat to grow cucumbers for the UK market.
Given it's Earth Month, maybe it's time to become more sustainable and grow your own vegetables?
