Harp and Crown Credit Union have just been accredited as a Living Wage Employer!

What does this mean?

Every member of staff at Harp and Crown Credit Union will earn at least the Real Living Wage.

The Real Living Wage is higher than the government’s minimum, or National Living Wage, and is an independently calculated hourly rate of pay that is based on the actual cost of living. It is calculated each year and is announced by the Living Wage Foundation in October.  It is currently £12.60 in the UK.

Over 15,000 organisations, including Harp and Crown Credit Union, voluntarily choose to pay the Real Living Wage because they believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.

Harp and Crown Credit Union CEO, Siobhan Barclay said: “We are very proud to be recognised as a Living Wage Employer at the Harp and Crown Credit Union.  Our entire team go above and beyond to meet the needs of our 10,000+ police family members and we are delighted to be able to reward staff with a very fair wage in line with the cost of living.”

Mary McManus, Living Wage NI Regional Manager said: “We are delighted to welcome Harp and Crown Credit Union to our network of accredited Living Wage Employers in NI! The credit union joins over 130 local organisations now accredited as a Living Wage Employer in Northern Ireland. Thank you for choosing to recognise your staff with a fair day’s pay.  At one in five, NI has the highest rate of jobs paid below the Living Wage in the UK.  We hope that many more organisations will be inspired by Harp and Crown Credit Union and sign up as Living Wage Employers.”
