Are you still planning a holiday for 2024? Here's what you need to know....

Average cost of a holiday

The average cost of a FAMILY holiday in 2023 was around £4,678 showing that people spent more on holidays despite the difficult financial situations faced during the cost-of-living crisis.

This year the average planned spend on holidays abroad per person is £1,690 which is up 19% from the average planned spend in 2023 of £1,425.

Check out these top 30 tips on how to save money on your holiday in 2024.

Northern Ireland holiday destination

Though the weather is somewhat unpredictable in Northern Ireland, many still prefer to keep it local! For a Northern Ireland travel guide and ideas on what to do visit DiscoverNorthernIreland.com However, keeping it local and holidaying in Northern Ireland is perhaps not always the cheaper option, with a huge rise in costs, especially North Coast destinations and the price of rentals.

To stay at a caravan park with a pitch and electric hook up for example Causeway Cost holiday park it would cost £339.50 for 7 nights. On the other hand, to stay at a hotel for 4 nights in Portrush such as the Portrush Atlantic Hotel it would cost £721.

Save and plan now to fund your trip!

When we asked our Instagram followers how they funded their holiday in 2023, a majority 58% said they lifted from their savings, whilst 33% took out a loan with their credit union. We encourage our members to “save as you borrow” with a minimum of £10 per month required to keep your account active.  Why not set aside an extra £10 or £50 per month to help save towards your next holiday.
