Closing Your Account

We receive requests from members who have left their position or have retired, thinking that it is a requirement to close their account with the Harp and Crown Credit Union.

This is not necessary!

Remember you can still enjoy the benefits of your membership with us:

  1. Your savings and loans are protected with FREE life cover, up to the age of 70 years.  Up until 70 years of age, in the event of your death, your beneficiary could receive 1.5 times your savings balance (additional benefit capped at £5,000).  Example:  £10,000 savings balance - your loved one could receive £5,000 on TOP of your savings.  Any outstanding loan balances would also be cleared.
  2. Annual Dividend and Loan Rebate - active members at the time of the Annual General Meeting, may be eligible** to receive a dividend on their savings and a rebate on any loans, if applicable.  If a member cancels their account prior to this date, they forfeit the opportunity to avail of this benefit.

  3. Savings accounts only require £10 per month to remain open.

  4. Opportunity to invest in your family's financial wellbeing - Children and Grandchildren accounts available

If this has changed your mind or you have any further questions, our team would love to speak with you.

All we require for you to continue saving with us, is an update of your bank details, and a personal email address, so that we may set up a new direct debit for you.

If however you still wish to close your account, this is an easy process.  Simply contact us via email or phone and we will do the rest.  We will be very sorry to see you go and appreciate any feedback you wish to provide.
